Senior Linux Systems Architect

Role: Linux Systems Architect

Location: Hemel Hempstead

To join a team of IT specialists who manage the day to day running of our web and IVR (Interactive Voice Response) platforms across multiple hosting locations.

The platforms technologies utilised are mostly LAMP (circa 70 servers, growing), Microsoft, with F5 Big IP load balancers and a full Cisco network infrastructure, as well as MySQL, Postgres and Sybase databases.

This infrastructure runs various service critical functions within a busy 24/7 live environment, such as: Application delivery, Web hosting, stats and database servers.

· Responsibility of the architecture and deployment strategy of our all Linux servers

· Definition of build and configuration standards of our Linux servers

· Active participation in the general technology strategy with an emphasis in the Linux area (choice of tools, modules and system components, development tools and methods)

· Day to day maintenance & administration of Linux servers and network devices.

· Roll out of services to production platform and assist development team in 'Standardising' applications for production where required, including documentation of design schemas and future roll out documents.

· Set up and use/build/specify administration and monitoring tools whereas required.

· Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal· Experience of commercial systems administration, preferably in large hosting business.

· Networking knowledge with Linux/Cisco/Microsoft

· Good problems analysis and solving skills.

· Excellent organisational and analysis skills

· Excellent working practices. Technical skills required

· Linux systems administration at a detailed level

· Perfect knowledge of PHP/Apache/Perl

· Networking skills· Knowledge/practice of DB administration for MySQL, Postgres or Sybase would be appreciated.QualificationsDegree level trained, with commercial experience.
