Earnings in the region of £13,000/month (dependant on rota and experience) we are looking for a Consultant in Haematology in Wales. Commencing 12 July for a minimum of 3 months. Accommodation available if required. Rapid registration process, we can have you working within 24 hours.
This hospital is a 334 bed DGH providing inpatient services for patients across the region. In addition to a range of general specialities, there are visiting Consultants in Paediatric Cardiology, Paediatric Neurology, Paediatric Urology, Genito-Urinary Medicine, Clinical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Mental Illness and Oral Surgery. A brand new £7M state of the art Emergency Unit opened in March 2007 which includes accommodation suitable fir 40,000 patients a year and houses ITU and HDU beds.
The largest hospital in South West Wales incorporating 334 beds and was originally developed as the main acute hospital centre for the whole of the area. Although the hospital generally serves the western and northern parts of the county of Carmarthenshire, some specialties provide a Hywel Dda wide service whilst others are networked within the area and provide inpatient services to patients from neighbouring counties.
Consultants in the following specialities are based at the Hospital:
General Medicine Trauma & Orthopaedic
Ophthalmology General Surgery
Anaesthetics Urology
Radiology ENT
Histopathology/Cytology Dermatology
Chemical Pathology Haematology
Medical Microbiology Obstetrics & Gynaecology Paediatrics Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Orthodontics Accident & Emergency
Clinical Oncology
In addition, there are visiting consultants in paediatric cardiology, paediatric neurology, paediatric urology, genito-urinary medicine, clinical oncology, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, mental illness, oral surgery and palliative medicine.
The facilities in the hospital include an accident and emergency department, 6 theatres, 6 bedded intensive care and a 6 bedded high dependency unit, 6 bedded cardiac care and pacing unit, acute medical admissions unit, colposcopy suite, day case hospice facility, rehabilitation facilities (including a hydrotherapy pool) and renal dialysis unit.
The last 7 years have seen major structural alterations, which have resulted in all ward areas and many other departments within the hospital complex being upgraded. A new A&E facility was opened in early 2008. A new, purpose built MRI scanning facility as part of the A&E development was opened at the same time.
